The interdisciplinary minor in cybersecurity is focused on the technological, 结构, 社会, and 法律 frameworks used to secure computer networks and 软件. The study of cybersecurity combines multiple fields including computer science, 工程, information technology, criminal justice, and philosophy, to name a few. In an effort to promote the security of computer networks, 软件, and cyber information, an interdisciplinary understanding about technological, 法律, philosophical, and 结构 aspects of cybersecurity is needed. This minor will provide students from different majors the knowledge they need to understand, 管理, prevent or respond to cyber incidents they are likely to encounter in their careers.

Security Management Specialists
Conduct security assessments for organizations, and design security systems and processes. May specialize in areas such as physical security, personnel security, and information security. May work in fields such as health care, banking, gaming, security 工程, or manufacturing.
Network and Computer Systems Administrators

Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. May monitor and test Web site performance to ensure Web sites operate correctly and without interruption. May assist in network modeling, 分析, 规划, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and 软件. May supervise computer user support specialists and computer network support specialists. May administer network security measures.
Computer Systems Analysts
Analyze science, 工程, 业务, and other data processing problems to 实现 and improve computer systems. Analyze user requirements, 程序, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, 工作流, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially available 软件.
Information Security Analysts
计划, 实现, 升级, or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. May ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. May respond to computer security breaches and viruses.
Requirements
Interdisciplinary minors require 12 credit hours of 300/400-level courses selected from at least two different disciplines with a maximum of six credits from any one discipline.
